SRA's therapeutic horseback riding program includes children and adults facing a wide range of challenges including birth defects, cerebral palsy, learning disabilities, Down's syndrome, autism, visual impairment and paralysis. They use quite and carefully trained horses to meet the needs of people with physical, emotional, cognitive and communication difficulties.
The benefits are dramatic and visible....Spastic muscles relax. Stiff joints mobilize. Balance stablizes. Senses begin working together. Concentration develops. Words take on meaning. Thoughts are expressed. Hostility diminishes. Self confidence builds. Sharing occurs. The list of accomplishments is lengthy, exciting and highly individualized.
SRA's staff includes licensed physical therapists and therapeutic riding instructors who bring a diversity of skills, training and education to the program
