Adoption Experience: The director and selected associates have worked in consultation and/or direct adoption services for over 10 years, primarily in Cambria County.   Services have related to pre-adoption evaluation; adoptive family member assessments and  therapy for children and adult family  members, pre and post adoption.

Adoption Training:     

Dr. Croyle has provided training for foster parents, potential adoptive parents and adoption specialists. Topics have included: 

Developing parenting skills; 
How to  understand psychological reports;
Preparation of pre-adoptive parents for the unique qualities of special need children;
Easing  the educational  transitions of adopted children.

Kim Walkinshaw has co-developed and implemented training workshops for professionals to increase awareness of therapeutic issues for families created through adoption. Those workshops have been presented at state-wide level. She has also co-conducted a number of therapeutic groups created for children and adolescents touched by the adoptive experience.
