Respite Program Indian Creek Family Services mission is to provide a community based, family-driven respite care program for children and adults with developmental disabilities in the Montgomery and Bucks county areas. Services are provided through a referral system which links families in need with providers of service. The goals of this respite service are to:
Types of Service Two sites for respite care is available. In Home Care is available for families that want their family member to be cared for in their own home. Host Family Care provides respite care services in the home of the provider. Consumer families are free to choose either type of service depending on their particular needs at the time of each service provision. Family Aid and Recreational Aid services are also available upon family request. Services are designed to be individualized and flexible so that they meet the needs of each family.
Who Provides this Service? Respite Care Providers are individuals who are interested in providing quality service to developmentally disabled individuals. After an initial application is submitted, applicants are screened for qualifications and must successfully pass a criminal record check and a child abuse check. Training is provided in emergency, safety, and disability issues.
How to Apply for Respite Care Services Respite care referrals come from a variety of sources. No special referral method is required and consumers do not need to be registered for service at any other agency. Inquires or requests for services should be made to the Respite Coordinator, Cindy McHugh at (267) 203-1500 ext 129. When at all possible, requests for service should be made three (3) weeks before the needed service or as soon as the family is aware of the time period to be requested. All efforts are made to accommodate emergency situations.
Who Pays for this Service? Family Services at Indian Creek Foundation were started in January 1990 as a direct result of familys requests/needs for services in our area. Program coordination cost are not funded by county, state, or federal monies and fundraising efforts have supported these agency costs. Because of this, there is an initial registration fee of $50.00 required to assist in offsetting coordination cost and an annual fee of $25.00. This annual fee will be billed each year after registering. Fees for respite care services provided are paid by the families directly to providers. Fees range from $800/hr - $10.00/hr and $65.00/day to $85.00/day, depending on the level of care. If the provider will also be caring for siblings, we recommend an additional fee of $1.00 per hour/per child. The Respite Coordinator can assist families in determining an appropriate fee for service. Family-driven funds may be utilized for purchasing respite services in Bucks and Montgomery Counties. Please check with your Case Management Office regarding the procedure for receiving family-driven funds. Indian Creek Family Services will not be responsible for billing although they will be glad to assist you in filling out the necessary forms.
